Some things worth noting ...

TORONTO -- THE SCHU FITS: D Christoph Schubert made his NHL debut last night, subbing in for Brian Pothier, who was a healthy scratch. Hmm. First game. The Leafs. Hockey Night in Canada. "I know. I'm just going to try and keep it simple," said Schubert. "I was just happy to make the team and be around the team. I just tried to have a good attitude. I knew I'd get a chance."

ROUGH AND TOUGH: Senators enforcer Brian McGrattan followed Eric Lindros around the Ottawa zone in the first period. McGrattan gave him a good check, too, but got a roughing penalty when he finished it off with a shove in the Big E's face.

HEATS IS ON: Dany Heatley's first-period power-play goal allowed him to tie the franchise record for longest scoring streak from the start of a season (nine games). Radek Bonk in 2003-04 and Marian Hossa 2000-01 share the record.
