Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson made history Wednesday night. Now the Hockey Hall of Fame has come calling.
The HOF has asked for, and will receive, the sticks Alfredsson and Senators winger Dany Heatley used in the first-ever shootout Wednesday night against the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.
Alfredsson was the first NHL player to participate in a shootout, scoring what turned out to be the winning goal.
"I liked this stick," said Alfredsson as he gripped the Easton Synergy yesterday. It was the same stick he used to score the Senators' two goals earlier in the game.
He happily gave it up for a place in the Hall of Fame.
