NOTES

The Senators added to their blue-line depth by acquiring Filip Novak from the Florida Panthers yesterday for future considerations. Novak was assigned to Binghamton (AHL) ... The Leafs were forced to scratch D Ken Klee (bruised heel) and D Wade Belak against the Sens. They brought up D Carlo Colaiacovo from the AHL's Toronto Marlies. "I was told to be ready just in case," said Colaicovo ... The Senators scratched D Christoph Schubert. LW Vaclav Varada (bruised right MCL) remains sidelined ... Ottawa president Roy Mlakar admitted last night he slipped up and called rookie RW Brandon Bochenski "Brian" on the Team 1200 yesterday. "I should have just called him 'Bo' because that's what I usually call him," said Mlakar ... Senators owner Eugene Melnyk repeated the club will make an effort to sign free agent Ds Wade Redden and Zdeno Chara before the end of the season.
