TORONTO -- OPEN THE DOOR: The Senators couldn't get into the Air Canada Centre after getting off their bus because the door was locked. Naturally, captain Daniel Alfredsson didn't miss a beat: "Hey, I thought the lockout was over," he said.

ROUNDLY BOOED: Leafs fans welcomed the Senators with a robust chorus of boos after the visitors were introduced before the game. Alfredsson got his own private round of jeers when he took the ceremonial opening faceoff.

THE STARTING LINEUP: Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza, Brandon Bochenski, Zdeno Chara and Chris Phillips were on the ice for Ottawa for the first faceoff of the season. Spezza won it against Mats Sundin.

HELLOOO! Peter Schaefer was daydreaming while skating around on the power play nonchalantly, trying to put on his helmet and take a pass. Coach Bryan Murray wasn't amused.

LOST CAPTAIN: Sundin left the game in the first period after taking the puck in the eye on a shot from teammate Darcy Tucker.
