BUFFALO -- The Dominator will take another major step in his comeback tonight.
Not only will Dominik Hasek start the game against the Sabres at the HSBC Arena, he'll finish it, too, as the Senators try to get him up to full speed for next Wednesday's regular-season opener.
Unless tonight's outing is disastrous, Hasek will play the entire game. Rookie goalie Ray Emery is scheduled to play the whole game tomorrow night vs. the Penguins at the Corel Centre.
"This is all about getting (Hasek) ready for the season opener (against the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Oct. 5). We've got a schedule and we're going to work with it. He's been excellent," said Senators coach Bryan Murray.
"The thing you have to like about (Hasek) is his approach. He works so hard in practice and I think that's a good message for the other players who are here. I know that he likes the work we're giving him at the moment. That's been good for him.
"I know (Hasek) probably doesn't like having the third goalie (Billy Thompson) here right now because Hasek likes to take a lot of shots and he always wants to be in the net in practice. He wants the work because he wants to make sure he's prepared."
Murray said his plan is to use Hasek on Saturday at home vs. the Canadiens and play him 30 minutes in Montreal in the second game of the back-to-back series on Sunday.
"That's my plan right now, but we're going to have to see," said Murray.
