Swiss winger Damien Brunner has agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with the New Jersey Devils, according to Brunner’s agent Neil Sheehy.

Following one season in Detroit with the Red Wings, the 27-year-old had been considering a return to the Swiss-A League, where he played eight seasons before arriving in the NHL.

“I’m really excited about being a Devil and sticking around,” said Brunner on New Jersey’s official site. “I believed that I could come over (from Switzerland), prove myself and get a contract.

“That’s what happened and I’m really happy about it.”

Brunner finished third in scoring last season with Detroit, potting 12 goals for 26 points before adding another nine points (five goals, four assists) in 14 playoff games.
