NEWWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils placed veteran forward Brian Rolston on waivers Tuesday.
If he's not claimed by another team before 12 p.m. (et) on Wednesday, Rolston will be available to play for the Devils against Phoenix.
The Devils aren't likely to assign him to their AHL team in Albany because Rolston, 37, has a so-called "35-and-over" contract and his full salary would have to be paid no matter what.
Rolston has played 1,136 games in the NHL with New Jersey, Colorado, Boston and Minnesota, scoring 323 goals with 384 assists.
He won a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1995 during his initial stint with the team.
