OTTAWA -- New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur is expected to return to the lineup Friday against Ottawa after missing eight games with an elbow injury.

Brodeur has not played since November 18 against Toronto when he aggravated the injury, which he initially sustained in a November 3 game against Chicago.

The Devils have struggled all season and were just 3-5-0 in Brodeur's latest absence.

Brodeur, who was the backup for Johan Hedberg in Monday's 2-1 loss at Pittsburgh, has a record of just 4-10-1 with a 2.74 goals-against average, two shutouts and a .901 save percentage in 17 games this season.
