New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur will miss Friday's game against the New York Rangers.

Brodeur suffered a bruised right elbow when he was struck by a shot from Patrick Kane during the second period of Wednesday's 5-3 win at Chicago.

The NHL's all-time wins leader, Brodeur participated in Friday's morning skate, but still felt pain in the elbow.

Johan Hedberg will make his second start of the season, while the Devils recalled Jeff Frazee from Albany of the American Hockey League to serve as the backup.

Defenseman Alexander Urbom was also summoned from Albany and will replace Colin White, who is battling the flu.
