Alexander Mogilny's chronic hip problem may spell the end of his marvelous hockey career. Mogilny failed the physical in New Jersey's training camp and now there are financial considerations to consider. The Devils hope the $3.5 million owing on Mogilny's contract doesn't count against the salary cap. The league will make that determination in good time.

WHERE'S CASH?

For the past 14 years, Cash Pomer has been a fixture on Canadian radio and television, picking NFL games. Now that his radio show is long gone and Global's Sportsline has been cancelled, we're out of Cash. Surely, somebody in media land could use this character.

JAYS LOSSES

The Blue Jays are expected to lose about $25 million this season, according to reports. At first glance, this may sound like a lot. But in the world Rogers (as in Ted with B.J. Ryan) Communications operates in, this is lunch money. With operating revenues nearing $9 billion, the Jays losses, however serious they may sound, are next to nothing .
