The Nashville Predators signed forward Patric Hornqvist to a five-year, $21.25-million contract Tuesday.

“As we build towards the 2013-14 season and beyond, re-signing Patric Hornqvist was an off-season priority,” general manager David Poile said. “Since joining the Predators, he has become – and will remain – an integral member of our core group.”

Hornqvist had four goals and 10 assists for the Preds this season. Prior to that, he had three straight 20-goal seasons – including one 30-goal season in 2009-10 – the first Nashville draft pick to do so.

The 26-year-old Swede was selected 230th overall in the 2005 draft.
