TORONTO - The National Hockey League suspended Nashville Predators defenseman Shane O'Brien two games on Friday.

O'Brien was given the ban for a high stick in the face of Florida Panthers forward Stephen Weiss during Thursday's contest.

The 27-year-old will be eligible to return when the Predators take on the Coyotes in Phoenix on Tuesday, missing a home-and-home series with Chicago on Saturday and Sunday.

He forfeits $39,024.40 in salary which automatically goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. O'Brien, who is considered a repeat offender following his one-game suspension in November, 2009, was docked according to the number of games in the season instead of the number of days.
