Free agent forward Lee Stempniak signed a one-year contract with the New York Rangers on Saturday.

The New York Post reported that the deal is worth $900,000.

Stempniak had a combined 12 goals and 22 assists in 73 games with the Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins last season. He spent the majority of the season with Calgary before being traded to Pittsburgh.

In the playoffs, Stempniak had two goals and one assist in 13 games with the Penguins.

The 31-year-old has 150 goals and 191 assists in 637 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Phoenix Coyotes, Flames and Penguins.

He was a fifth-round pick of the Blues in the 2003 draft.
