With puffy snowflakes floating down over the winter wonderland known as Yankee Stadium, future Hall of Fame goalie Martin Brodeur left the ice for the second intermission accompanied by mocking chants of “Mart-ee Mart-ee” from the throng of 50,000 here in the south Bronx.

On what turned out to be yet another landmark day for the National Hockey League, the afternoon proved to be an absolute nightmare for Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.

With his team having built up a 3-1 first-period lead on Sunday afternoon, Brodeur let a weak Marc Staal screen shot slide through a series of legs and squeeze through his pads for the second Rangers goal of the day.

Unfortunately for Brodeur and co., it would open up the floodgates for the New York Rangers.
