Big Ben Bishop served up a goose egg to kick off Easter weekend Thursday night.
As the city gears up for a holiday break, the Senators goaltender sent everybody home in a good mood as he recorded his first shutout in an Ottawa uniform by making 24 stops in a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers.
Guillaume Latendresse and Andre Benoit were the only ones to beat Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist on the 28 shots he faced as the Senators extended their winning steak to three games in front of 19,447 at Scotiabank Place.
Colin Greening put it away into an empty net.
The appreciative faithful were even chanting Bishop's name in the third after he dove across the net to stop Ryan McDonagh with Ottawa clinging to a 1-0 lead. Mika Zibanejad and Chris Neil chipped in with two assists each.
