Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul took to Twitter on Friday to express his confusion over the NHL’s suspension standards.

Lupul was suspended two games for his hit on Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman Wednesday night.

“If someone can explain the decisions on what warrants a suspension and what doesn’t, please let me and the rest of the guys know," Lupul wrote.

The tweet comes fast on the skates of the New York Rangers’ Rick Nash not receiving a disciplinary hearing for a controversial hit on Florida Panthers forward Tomas Kopecky Thursday.

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said although the league didn’t like Nash’s hit, it wasn’t enough to warrant a suspension.

“(Nash’s hit) absolutely should have been a two (minute minor), and probably should have been a five,” Shanahan said. “We don’t see this as being principal point of contact to the head. For a fact, we don’t see much contact to the head at all.”
