The New York Rangers’ marketing department experienced a serious lapse in judgment on Friday afternoon when it tweeted a link to their "Girls Guide to Watching the Rangers".

The tweet, “Check out the ‘Girls Guide to Watching the Rangers’ written by a guest writer from the new #NYR network”, rippled throughout the Twittersphere while being blasted by a majority of respondents.

Most followers demanded an apology for the organization’s insensitive post, and admonished the Rangers for their sexism.

As soon as the balking began, the tweet was removed from the club’s official Twitter account. But Twitter users still continued to let the team have it.

“Oh god, I wish I could see what the @NYRangers ‘Interactions’ page looks like right now,” one response read.

Last May, the CBC took heat over their show While The Men Watch, featuring hosts Lena Sutherland and Jules Mancuso, who offered an alternative “girl talk” commentary during Hockey Night in Canada.
