Rangers' Staal to miss training camp

New York Rangers defenceman Marc Staal will miss training camp and at least the first three pre-season games due to lingering post-concussion symptoms.

Staal started having issues during the off-season even though he missed just three games following the hit by his brother, Eric, of the Carolina Hurricanes during a game in February. As a precaution, the Rangers will hold Staal out of camp and their first three exhibition games in North America.

"He's progressing nicely," Rangers coach John Tortorella said. "We just want to be cautious and get him ready for the regular season. The past four days he's feeling better during workouts. We want him to feel better consistently."

Staal could be ready in time for the Rangers' four pre-season games in Europe, which is a lead-in to their regular-season games against the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
