Boogaard's brother appears in court
By QMI Agency

The younger brother of late NHLer Derek Boogaard made his first appearance in a Minnesota court Monday.

Aaron Boogaard was released on $10,000 bail by Hennepin County District Judge Regina Chu. He did not enter a plea, which is normal this early in proceedings, and a second court appearance was scheduled for Aug. 17.

Boogaard, 24, was charged by Minneapolis police Friday with third-degree sale of a controlled substance and interference with a death. The charges stem from the death of Derek Boogaard on May 13, the day after he was released from rehab, from a mixture of prescription painkillers and alcohol.

The younger Boogaard is also facing federal immigration violations but a court date on that case hasn't been set.

Police allege that Aaron Boogaard gave his brother the pills, Percocet and OxyContin, that contributed to his death.
