NEW YORK -- The New York Rangers have re-signed defenceman Daniel Girardi to an undisclosed contract.

The 26-year-old registered six goals and 18 points with a minus-two rating over a full 82-game schedule in 2009-10. The dependable blueliner has skated in all 82 games for the Blueshirts in each of the last three seasons after breaking in with the club during the 2006-07 campaign.

In 280 career games, Girardi has netted 20 goals and compiled 60 assists with a minus-nine rating. The Welland, Ont., native was originally signed by the Rangers as a free agent in July, 2006.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
