The New Jersey Devils acquired forward Trent Hunter from the New York Islanders in exchange for forward Brian Rolston Thursday.

Hunter spent the last eight seasons with the Islanders, recording 99 goals and 130 assists in 459 career games. The 31-year-old recorded a career-high in goals with 25 in his rookie season of 2003-04, earning him a place in the NHL's All-Rookie Team that year, but has scored 20 goals in a season just once since then.

Rolston, a 16-year veteran, appeared in 65 games last season and amassed 34 points with 14 goals and 20 assists. He has career marks of 335 goals and 402 assists in 1,186 games.
