From sloppy seconds to sloppy gestures, Sean Avery always seems to get sucked into troublesome situations.

At least this time the Rangers forward is not the offender.

New York Islanders defenceman James Wisniewski made a lewd gesture towards Avery during the first period of Monday’s game at Nassau Coliseum.

The two players were chirping at each other during a stoppage in play when Wisniewski used his hand and mouth to simulate fellatio.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was in attendance, but declined to comment on any potential disciplinary action.

"My guess is hockey operations will do what needs to be done," Bettman told reporters.

Certainly Avery must think it calls for punishment. In 2008, he was suspended six games and underwent anger management counseling for his infamous “sloppy seconds” remark regarding his ex-girlfriends dating other hockey players.

"It's pretty obvious what the guy was doing," Avery said of Wisniewski. "But I'm sure nothing will happen to him because nothing ever happens. It's interesting, he'd get a warning for something like that.

"Can you imagine if I did that? They sent me to rehab the last time I did something. It's crazy."

Wisniewski said he couldn’t recall doing the gesture, but the video evidence was on YouTube before the match was even completed.

"When are these players going to figure it out? We do have cameras at games," a league source told ESPN.com.
