Sabres woes extended

Islanders 5, Sabres 3 -- At Uniondale, N.Y., Randy Robitaille scored with 3:09 left in regulation to help rally the Islanders to a victory over the Sabres last night.

Buffalo lost its third straight game for the first time all season.

Robitaille picked off a clearing attempt on the left side and launched a 45-foot slap shot that got past a screened Ryan Miller to give the Islanders their first win at home since Dec. 26. They were 0-3-1 since.

Andy Hilbert added an insurance goal with 53.9 seconds left.

Arron Asham scored twice and Trent Hunter also scored for the Islanders, while Rick DiPietro, yanked after allowing three goals on five shots Friday night in Atlanta, made 25 saves for the win.

It was just the third time this season New York won when trailing after two periods (3-9-0).

Jochen Hecht scored twice for the Sabres, while Ales Kotalik added a goal.

Miller stopped 26 shots.

Rangers 2, Flyers 1 -- At Philadelphia, Jason Krog's tie-breaking goal 3:49 into the third period for the Rangers extended the Flyers winless streak to nine games. New York's Jaromir Jagr scored his 610th career goal,tying him with Bobby Hull for 13th place on the NHL all-time list.

Capitals 7, Hurricanes 3 -- At Washington, Alexander Semin had two goals and an assist and Alexander Ovechkin extended his point-scoring streak to 11 games for the Capitals. Ovechkin had a goal and an assist, and his point-scoring streak matches a career best. Eric Fehr, Kris Beech, Chris Clark and Brooks Laich also scored for Washington. Justin Williams, Erik Cole and David Tanabe replied for Carolina, which has lost 4-of-6.

Panthers 4, Devils 2 -- At Sunrise, Fla., Rostislav Olesz scored twice and Joel Kwiatkowski had the game-winner as Florida won consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 27-29.

Blue Jackets 3, Wild 2 -- At Columbus, Ohio, Rostislav Klesla had a goal and an assist as the Blue Jackets held on for their third straight victory. Columbus goalie Fredrick Norrena left the game in the second period with a lower-body injury.
