MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens forward George Parros, who suffered a concussion when he hit the ice chin-first during a fight, was discharged from hospital Wednesday morning.
Parros suffered the injury when he tumbled over Colton Orr during the Habs’ 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple
Leafs at the Bell Centre on Tuesday evening.
As the opening-night crowd sat in silence, Parros was carried off the ice in a stretcher, his lower face bloodied.
He was transported to the Montreal General Hospital and held overnight for observation.
Parros, A 33-year-old Pennsylvania native, will be sidelined indefinitely.
A few hours after the incident, Parros sent out a post on the social-media website Twitter that read: “thanks for all the well wishes everyone.”
His concussion has once again renewed the debate over fighting in hockey.
