Canadiens coach Michel Therrien bans P.K. Subban, Carey Price triple low-five

Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien’s first order of business upon seeing star defenceman P.K. Subban emerge from contract talks: banning the 23-year-old’s triple low-five victory celebration with goalie Carey Price on Friday.

According to Therrien, the duo’s post-game celebration doesn’t line up with the Habs’ philosophy, one that will see them raise their sticks in appreciation of the crowd following victories.

“It’s a team concept,” he said. “You have to respect the game, the other team and the fans. The way we decided to celebrate this year is to salute the fans because they deserve it.”

Subban, a restricted free agent at the end of last season, recently returned to the Canadiens following a contract dispute that was finally settled earlier this week.

Subban could make his NHL return Saturday night in Montreal against the Buffalo Sabres.

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
  Yes
  No
No ... but the refs seem to be evening it out themselves
