MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens inked forward Max Pacioretty to a six-year contract extension on Monday. The deal will keep him in Montreal through the 2018-19 season.

Pacioretty, 23, completed his fourth season in the NHL and led the Canadiens in points with 65, compiling 33 goals and 32 assists in 79 contests. He also received the 2011-12 Bill Masterton Trophy in the NHL for qualities of perseverance and dedication to the game.

Pacioretty missed the last 15 regular season games and playoffs in 2010-11 due to a fractured neck and concussion.

During his career, Pacioretty has compiled 53 goals and 61 assists in 202 games.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
