MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Blake Geoffrion to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday.

The 24-year-old Geoffrion was acquired in a trade from the Nashville Predators for veteran defenceman Hal Gill last February and scored two goals in 13 games with Montreal.

Geoffrion became the fourth generation of his family to play for the Canadiens. He is the grandson of Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion and great-grandson of Howie Morenz. His father, Dan, also played for the Habs.

The 2010 Hobey Baker Award winner as the top collegiate player, Geoffrion has registered eight goals and five assists in 55 career games with the Predators and Canadiens.
