The Montreal Canadiens signed defenceman Nathan Beaulieu to a three-year, entry level contract Wednesday.

Beaulieu, the Habs' first-round pick last summer, had 11 goals and 41 assists in 53 games with the Saint John Sea Dogs to finish fifth among QMJHL defencemen in scoring. He was also plus-41 for the QMJHL champs.

The 19-year-old from Strathroy, Ont., also played for Canada at the 2012 world junior championship in Alberta, finishing with one assists and 16 penalty minutes in six games.
