Gauthier still at Habs' helm

The Montreal Canadiens might someday fire general manager Pierre Gauthier but it hasn't happened yet.

Speculation started over the weekend that the Habs had let Gauthier go but owner Geoff Molson quickly moved to put out the fire with a short statemement on his Twitter account.

"Rumours of Pierre Gauthier's firing are false," he tweeted.

Gauthier has been under fire from vocal Canadiens' fans all season due to the team's struggles and his decision to hire Anglophone coach Randy Cunneyworth on an interim basis when Jacques Martin was let go. The Canadiens are last in the Eastern Conference and are expected to be sellers at Monday's trade deadline.

Are you surprised Don Cherry backed Daniel Alfredsson's comments?
  Yes.
  No.
It's Don Cherry - who knows what he will say.
