Scott Gomez and Montreal assistant coach Randy Ladouceur had a confrontation at practice Tuesday but, according to the Canadiens centre, it was rather one-sided.
"It happens all the time, I screwed up on the drill," Gomez said after practice. "It shows you how the fire is still there in all of us ... I'm a passionate guy and I screwed up and the coach let me know about it.
"There was no argument, just a coach yelling at a player."
Voices were raised on both sides and went on for several minutes -- initially in front of the team and then in a corner of the rink.
Canadiens coach Randy Cunneyworth backed Ladouceur, saying it was important to ensure drills were done properly.
"We're looking for a north-south game that ends at the opponent's net," Cunneyworth said. "Not everyone is giving us that."
Gomez, 32, has just one goal and seven assists in 27 games this season and had only 7:49 of ice time in a 5-3 loss to Carolina Monday night.
