The Montreal Canadiens, in the midst of an unusual stretch of the schedule, returned to practice Tuesday after two days off.

The Habs played four games in six days, followed by five days off. They play again Friday at Ottawa against the Senators.

"You can look at this break both ways," defenceman Hal Gill said on the team's website Tuesday. "It could be a chance for us to get some rest, heal up and work on some things, or you could also see it as being too long.

"Either way, we have to plan out our time the right way, make the most of it, and be ready to go."

Montreal has won three in a row to improve to 4-5-2.
