Habs get blueline help

ANAHEIM -- The Anaheim Ducks have acquired a fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenceman Paul Mara.

The 31-year-old Mara has appeared in 33 contests for Anaheim this season, recording one goal and one assist. In 42 games for Montreal in 2009-10, Mara had eight assists.

Originally selected by Tampa Bay in the first round (seventh overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Mara has recorded 64 goals and 185 assists over 714 career contests with Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Boston, the New York Rangers, Montreal and Anaheim.

Mara has also played in 32 playoff games, scoring three goals and dishing out four assists.
