The Price indeed will be right for the Montreal Canadiens’ season opener Thursday night.

Just 24 hours after No. 1 goaltender Carey Price sat out practice with the flu, Habs coach Jacques Martin confirmed that Price will be between the pipes when the Canadiens and Maple Leafs face off at the Air Canada Centre to open the 2010-11 campaign.

“He’s feeling better,” Martin said, adding that “it’s a coaching decision. I asked him and he said he’s getting his strength back.

“He’s ready to go.”

Price spent much of the morning skate doing stretching exercises while backup Alex Auld faced most of the shots.

Meanwhile, Martin and coach Ron Wilson embarked on some playful head games leading up to the game.

During his morning press conference, Wilson stated that starting the season on the road, like the Habs are doing, might be an advantage because you don’t have the added pressure of attempting to appease the hometown fans.

For his part, Martin is not sure he agrees.

“I think that’s a very good quote from Ron,” Martin quipped. “That’s his department.”
