Habs ship Halak out
Moves to Blues in 3-player swap

Jaroslav Halak's time in Montreal is over, as the goaltender was traded to the Blues. (QMI Agency/Sebastien St-Jean)

The Montreal Canadiens have traded goalie Jaroslav Halak to the St. Louis Blues, only weeks after the netminder helped the team make it to the third round of the NHL playoffs.

Halak is going into the final year of his current contract.

The Habs will receive forwards Lars Eller and Ian Schultz in return.

Halak became a fan favourite in Montreal and didn't hurt his cause with his sometimes spectacular play during the playoffs and many had him pegged as the team's top goalie in front of Carey Price.

The 25-year-old Halak had a .924 save percentage during the regular season. He was signed by the Habs in 2003.
