MONTREAL -- A few more sweater numbers are about to become extinct for the Montreal Canadiens.
The Habs will announce today the names of three players who will have their numbers retired this season by the club.
Speculation at the Bell Centre yesterday morning was the numbers in question would be No. 12, to honour Yvan Cournoyer and Dickie Moore, and No. 5, worn by Bernie (Boom-Boom)Geoffrion. Another number in the running is No. 3, worn by Emile (Butch) Bouchard and J.C. Tremblay.
TSN, meanwhile, speculated on its web site the numbers would be No. 12, No. 19 (Larry Robinson)and No. 23 (Bob Gainey).
