The Los Angeles Kings have apologized after a post on their official Twitter page Tuesday night caused an online firestorm.
The tweet, which came from local L.A. radio DJ Kevin Ryder who was a guest writer during the Kings playoff game against the San Jose Sharks, read as follows:
"(Sharks' T.J.) Galiardi, gets a penalty for running over (Kings goalie Jonathan) Quick. Power Play Kings. (Kings' Anze) Kopitar just got sexually assaulted in front of (Sharks goalie) Niemi."
The tweet was taken down shortly afterwards.
The Kings posted an apology approximately 30 minutes later on their Twitter account that read: "We apologize for the tweets that came from a guest of our organization. They were inappropriate and do not reflect the LA Kings."
