LOS ANGELES - In a romantic face-off between wild child Paulina Gretzky and the seemingly mild-mannered Jarret Stoll (now apparently dating for almost a month), which one would come out with their heart still intact?

On one side is Paulina. She certainly looks like a handful of oozing fun from all her racy tweets and Instagram photos.

A real heartbreaker, right?

But, remember, she's still an impulsive kid, a 23-year-old who isn't doing very much out of the ordinary to get attention in Tinseltown. To top it off, she doesn't really date much.

On the other is Jarret, the very handsome professional hockey player from Melville, Sask. Jarret is a serious athlete, just having helped the Los Angeles Kings win its first-ever Stanley Cup. The 30-year-old is extremely careful about his public image and has a benign Twitter account where he occasionally posts messages about a game.

But the historical heart-destroyer between the two is Jarret. Hands down. And he has a penchant for good-looking blonds. This is the guy who left model Rachel Hunter crying at the altar three years ago only to move on to -- and bust up with -- Katie Cassidy, David Cassidy's cute actress-daughter.

Though Jarret might be intimidated by Paulina's dad, Wayne Gretzky, a tiger doesn't easily change its stripes. Paulina has known the former Edmonton Oiler since he moved to Los Angeles to join the Kings in 2008. Jarret and Wayne, famously an Oiler and a King himself, naturally travel in the same circle. Everyone became convinced of a romantic relationship when Paulina posted pictures of her and Jarret suggestively touching each other in a Jacuzzi -- a few days after she posed seductively with him at a June 11 Stanley Cup victory party. The Maxim model and singer has since deleted the photos.

On June 24 -- Jarret's birthday -- she posted a new photo of them together. They were fully clothed in what looked to be someone's living room and she stood next to Jarret, who held the Stanley Cup over his head.

As the photos go viral, there are two women here in Los Angeles likely looking at the budding relationship with yellow warning signals beaming out of their eyes.

Rachel Hunter, the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model once married to Rod Stewart, still seems to be picking up the pieces after her crazy encounter with the hockey player. After a whirlwind romance, Jarret proposed to the mother of two; the pair planned a romantic wedding for August 2009.

Although the model is 12 years older than Jarret, she was convinced the relationship was wonderful and excitedly bought an elaborate wedding dress -- and booked the venue.

Weeks before the wedding, with hundreds of guests already invited, the hockey player broke up with her. Via e-mail. Rachel, who has refused to discuss the breakup, has not really worked or dated since.

Jarret then began a relationship with Melrose Place actress Katie Cassidy, another beautiful blond.

It lasted about a year; and Katie gave strong hints as to why they broke up this past Christmas.

"Too many men are cheaters," the 25-year-old tweeted Jan. 25. This philosophical posting came two days later: "The good men. Where are they?"

Here's hoping Paulina has picked up some classic defensive moves from dad, such as the full body check.
