LOS ANGELES - Brayden Schenn is going to spend another season in the Western Hockey League.
The Los Angeles Kings returned the 18-year-old forward to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Monday. The fifth overall pick turned some heads at Kings training camp and nearly earned a spot with the NHL team.
Instead, he'll be back in Brandon, where he scored 32 goals and put up 88 points last season. Schenn will also be in the running to play for Canada's world junior team in his hometown of Saskatoon.
He is the younger brother of Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Luke Schenn.
Also Monday, the Kings sent goalie Jonathan Bernier, defenceman Thomas Hickey and winger Kevin Westgarth to the AHL's Manchester Monarchs.
