Winnipeg Jets freeze Penguins, Crosby, Glass 4-2
Fans already calling it a turning pointBy KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency
WINNIPEG - It will no doubt be awfully tempting for everyone who cheers, works or plays for the Jets to say Friday night will be the turning point. It’s too early to say, but you have to hand it to them for a performance that looked nothing like one last year’s squad would have produced. They were down 2-0 after 20 minutes to the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins at MTS Centre. Sidney Crosby scored twice, and the Jets looked lost. They were 5-16-4 last season when trailing after the first period last season, so winning the game had to be akin to climbing Mount Everest without a Sherpa or a jacket. |
