EDMONTON - Just like one win over Vancouver doesn’t mean the Edmonton Oilers are ready for a title shot, one humiliating loss to San Jose doesn’t mean they’re back to being a joke.
But it doesn’t help.
Cheap hamburgers weren’t the only things that went down hard Tuesday as the Oilers, all set to show their home town fans and a nationally televised audience that they are though being laughed at, fell flat on their faces.
On a night when the organization gave out the usual post-lockout beads - cheap sweaters and food - the players followed with some token efforts of their own, giving up six goals in the first period of a 6-3 loss.
