FANS OF PHIL

Count Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff and goalie Ryan Miller among those who like what Phil Kessel does for the Maple Leafs.

"He has got away from (Marc) Savard (in Boston), and he is showing he can do a lot of things," said Ruff, implying that Kessel didn't need Savard to make him a better player. "The Leafs are playing with a lot of confidence with Kessel. He has made players around him better."

For Miller, facing Kessel isn't a walk in the park. One tough aspect of defending against Kessel is his ability to shoot accurately from anywhere in the offensive zone.

"He is certainly a challenge," Miller said. "If he was just a guy with a good shot and decent hands, he would be easier to contain."
