If Ron Wilson decides one day to name a captain, defenceman Francois Beauchemin wouldn't mind if he were given the letter.
"We have not really talked about it in here, but it would be a great honour, with all the great players who have been captain here," Beauchemin said. "But right now we're just focused on winning games."
Beauchemin, Tomas Kaberle and Mike Komisarek are the Maple Leafs' alternate captains.
OVIE IS OKAY
Wilson said on Friday he does not have a big problem with the play of Alexander Ovechkin, which can be reckless at times. Neither does Toronto defenceman Jeff Finger.
"It's what makes him the player he is," Finger said. "A lot of things in his situation have been overblown, just because it's him."
WELCOME TO BUFFALO
Wilson didn't think the fact that the Capitals didn't arrive in Toronto until late yesterday morning because of plane trouble would have been a problem for the players. He pointed out the Leafs often bus into Buffalo on game days against the Sabres.
"Part of that is Buffalo can be a little depressing," Wilson said. "You can only eat so many chicken wings."
The Capitals had planned to travel late Friday night after beating the Carolina Hurricanes at home, but were forced to stay in the D.C. area when they could not get off the ground.
