SMOKIN' GUNNAR
Leafs coach Ron Wilson made sure blue-line callup Carl Gunnarsson got a big taste in his NHL debut. Playing alongside Luke Schenn for much of the game, Gunnarsson looked steady enough to the point that he was playing on the power play in the second period. Much of the game, the pair was matched against Calgary captain Jarome Iginla.
PHIL 'ER UP
When Phil Kessel assisted on Matt Stajan's second-period power-play goal, it extended his points scoring streak to five consecutive games.
DECADE TO REMEMBER
It was '80s night at the ACC, which meant lots of Wendel on the video board and lots of bad music.
For the pre-game skate, the Leafs came out in uniforms worn during that era and adorning players names such as Sittler, Clark, Salming and Palmateer.
