Wilson rip job works like a charm

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Ron Wilson and his coaching staff had seen enough.

So after an opening 20 minutes in which his team had dug itself into yet another 2-0 hole against the struggling Carolina Hurricanes, he let them have it in the intermission.

"They've got to get mad at some point," Wilson said. "I said to the team: 'We've only got one win in 13 games, when's somebody going to get upset here?' "

The answer came in the next 12 minutes and 37 seconds, the time it took the Leafs to even the score and get them on the way to win No. 2 on the season.

"We needed to get a little bit upset and a little bit angry," centre John Mitchell said. "(The message) was just, have some emotion out there and be tough to play against."
