Last night at Montreal

SCARY STUFF

The Canadiens willingly did their part to observe Halloween. They even wore costumes, sporting the hideous barber-pole throwback jerseys.

FRUGAL FIRST

The Leafs managed to keep an opponent off the scoresheet in the first period, just the third time they have done so this season. It was just the first time in five starts that Vesa Toskala had done so.

POWER UP

The Leafs' first two goals came on the power play, which has been a strength this season. Five-on-five action hasn't been so successful. The Leafs had just 13 even-strength goals in a dozen games until Alex Ponikarovsky scored his second of the game.
