Ty Conklin is ready to start his second chance.

The former, and much-maligned, Oilers netminder signed to a two-way contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Pascal Leclaire is the heir-apparent to Marc Denis, leaving Conklin and Fredrick Norrena, one of Finland's goalies at the Worlds, to battle for the backup job.

"It's a good opportunity for me," said Conklin. "I have to play well and earn a spot. If I do, there's opportunity there."

Conklin said he was hoping to be moved at the trade deadline, once the Oilers picked up Dwayne Roloson from Minnesota, but isn't bitter about his time here.

"I loved it up there," he said. "Playoff hockey in Edmonton was unbelievable, it was absolutely bonkers up there. The passion they have for the game is great."
