Alex Kovalev’s career is officially over.
After a brief stint with the Florida Panthers, the 40-year-old winger has decided to hang up his skates after 20 NHL seasons, according to multiple reports.
Kovalev signed a one-year deal with Florida after the lockout but only played 14 games, scoring two goals and three assists.
He ends his career as one of the highest scoring Russian players in NHL history with 430 goals and 599 assists for 1,029 points in 1,316 games. He has also played for the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators.
He won his first and only Stanley Cup as a member of the Rangers in 1994.
