Buffalo native Tim Kennedy, 25, has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Florida Panthers

"He has played for head coach Kevin Dineen in Portland and we look forward to Tim's continued development and growth within our organization," Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said.

Kennedy played in six NHL games last season with Florida after being acquired Feb. 26 from the New York Rangers.

He had 10 goals and 16 assists in 2009-10 with the Sabres but was waived after he was awarded a $1-million, one-year deal from an arbitrator last July. He eventually signed with the Rangers but spend most of last season in the AHL.
