In lieu of no longer having Steve Tambellini’s lucky tie to put in play, the Edmonton Oilers have decided to send Scott Howson to the NHL Draft Lottery to bring back a beautiful baby.

“It’s April 15 and that’s a special day for me,” said the Edmonton Oilers assistant general manager.

“That’s the day my youngest daughter, Joanna, was born. And she was born in Edmonton.

“I’m hoping for another great April 15th,” he said.

“That’s why he’s going,” said GM Craig MacTavish. “It’s a lucky day for him.”

State of the Oilers

MacTavish is actually remaining in Edmonton to hold the annual general manager’s State of the Oilers press conference.

“I’ll be watching the lottery from exactly where I am right now, sitting at my desk at the office,” he said.

The draft lottery will be televised on TSN at 6 p.m.

Tambellini’s lucky tie won the lottery three times resulting in the Oilers winning the right to pick first.
