EDMONTON - Sometimes a win isn’t supposed to make sense, it’s just supposed to feel good.
So in a season where they’ve dissected more losses than they care to remember, the Edmonton Oilers are not about to analyse one of their most satisfying wins of the season.
After being slapped around by Pacific Division bullies all season, the Oilers got one back, shocking the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in overtime Friday at Rexall Place.
Andrew Ference scored on a long-distance bullet with 1:09 left in OT to give hand Anaheim its first loss in Edmonton since 2007.
Yes, they were badly outshot and blah, blah, blah....
And that’s that.
The Oilers hung around with Anaheim long enough to set up a final 20 minutes for all the marbles. Edmonton needed those 20 minutes to stop its losing streak, prove it can get it done against Pacific Division heavyweight and temporarily calm an increasingly frustrated fan base.
